General main topics
The main topic of the COSIN
project is to develop a series of theoretical,
graphical, analytical and computational tools to describe the complex
behaviour of networks. For further information
about the whole project see also the official homepage: COSIN project
Activities of the unit in Rome
The activities of the unit in Rome
can be arranged in two main aereas of interest:
- Suitable models for the WWW:
We carried out an extensive
comparison study
of the statistical properties of large scale
simulations of the most important models for the Webgraph presented so
far in literature. Moreover we introduced a new stochastic model,
the
multilayer model,
able to catch properties of the actual Webgraph.
- Generating and measuring massive Webgraphs:
In order to study the topological properties of large
networks such as the Web and the Internet, we
developed a
software library that collects some
routines to generate and measure massive graphs, namely graphs with more
than one billion edge. In order to deal with this
great bulk of data, we implemented external and semi-external algorithms.
The library has been tested with graphs up to 2 billion edges.
