RoboCup Soccer Player robots
Since 2004, I am a member of the SPQR FourLegged (now Standard Platform) League team.
I was responsible for the “modelling†module of the architecture: localization, object tracking and so on.
In 2005, 2006 and 2010 I was the Team Leader of the SPQR, leading the student within this project.
Besides particle stuff, I worked, and keep working, on system integration, improving the sensor interface with the embedded software (mainly Aperios, on Aibo robots, and NaoQi SDK, on Nao humanoid).
I am also the co-designer (honor that I share with Maria Sciannelli) of the former logo of SPQRLegged team, designer of the CHITA hominids (joint team between UChile and SPQR) and designer of the shirt proudly wore by SPQR team during RoboCup in 2008, 2009 and 2010.
Highlights from RoboCup 2006
A funny video, made by Riccardo Tramma, showing the best results (so far) achieved by SPQR while I am member of the team. The robots are playing using the particle filter localization module made by me.
The very good results are shown by the coordination among module, The coordination implemented at that time required that only one robot were allowed to go to the ball. The other robots were defender and supporter: the defender was trying to be aligned between the ball and the center of the goal, while the supporter was keeping itself 1 meter away of the ball and on the other side of the field in respect of the attacker.
The CHITA hominids logo. CHITA is a joint team between UChile and SPQR. It will participate to the RoboCup 2010 in Singapore.
