Volumes taken for consultation must be returned the same day, at least 10 minutes before the closing of the Library, and must not leave the premises of the library.

Workstations are available to registered users. Reservations can be made at opac.uniroma1.it

Loans:

Are permitted:

- to academic staff, students and employees of the Department for 30 days, up to a maximum of 6 volumes; The duration of the loan can be extended by contacting the library.
- to professors and researchers from other departments and other universities for 7 days, up to a maximum of 3 volumes
- to students from other Departments of La Sapienza for 7 days, up to a maximum of 3 volumes.

Not permitted:

- Periodicals
- General reference works such as dictionaries, encyclopedias and yearbooks
- Textbooks reserved for courses taught at the DIS
- Theses

Volumes purchased with research funds:

Volumes purchased with research funds are available exclusively to the researcher until the conclusion of the research, up to a maximum of four years. Loans for extended periods are available, up to a 20 volume limit.

Penalties:

In cases where books are not returned or damaged, the holder of the loan will be excluded from library services and will be required to purchase an identical copy of the lost or damaged volume.

Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery:

The Library service can provide and request interlibrary loans of books and articles. The service is free and available for external libraries with reciprocity agreements

The material is provided or solely for the purpose of study, research and personal, non-commercial use.

The service is available for DIS staff and students.

Photocopies:

Users are permitted to reproduce library materials in accordance with copyright law (Legge n.248 del 18 agosto 2000 e successive modifiche)

Purchases:

Library purchases are made according to the following criteria:

- Proposals from the academic staff of the Department.
- Students can propose acquisitions through a formal process, using forms provided at the Library.
- Library staff determine the utility of the text, according to whether it updates the collection scientifically, or fills gaps in various subject areas.

Library Commision:

* The Consiglio di Dipartimento appoints a commission to the DIS Library for two academic years, and consists of three members, one graduate student and the Director of the Library
