My main research area is automatic video surveillance. The title of my Ph.D. Thesis is “Visual Tracking and Data Fusion for Automatic Video Surveillance” (pdf, presentation).
During my Ph.D. I was involved in three projects:
ARGOS Project at the Department of Computer and System Sciences, Sapienza University of Rome;
Visual modeling of people behaviors and interactions for professional training at the Digital Imaging Research Centre, Kingston University London;
SAMURAI at the Department of Computer Science, University of Verona;
From June 2006 to May 2008, I was involved in the ARGOS project. It stands for Automatic Remote Grand canal Observation System.
The aim of the projetct is to realize a pioneer video surveillance system for the city of Venice.
You can find all the details here.
I have published 3 papers about ARGOS:
A Distributed Vision System for Boat Traffic Monitoring in the Venice Grand Canal ( pdf, presentation, poster )
Rek-Means: A k-Means Based Clustering Algorithm ( pdf, poster, * )
ARGOS - A Video Surveillance System for Boat Trafic Monitoring in Venice
I have written also a technical report (doc
in italian) about ARGOS.
Visual modeling of people behaviors and interactions for professional training
The
method is applied to the training of nurses in the School of Nursing
Faculty of Health and Social Care Sciences at Kingston University
London.
The aim is to detect and track people in order to analyze their behavior.
All the details can be found in the following papers:
A Novel Segmentation Method for Crowded Scenes ( pdf, presentation )
An Adaptive Tracker for Assisted Living (poster)
SAMURAI
(Suspicious and Abnormal behaviour Monitoring Using a netwoRk of
cAmeras for sItuation awareness enhancement) is a collaborative
project funded under
the European Commission Seventh Framework
Programme Theme 10 (Security).
The aim of SAMURAI is to develop and
integrate an innovative intelligent surveillance system for
monitoring people and vehicle activities at both inside and
surrounding
areas of a critical public infrastructure.
All
the details about SAMURAI project can be find here.
