Camil Demetrescu obtained a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering in 2001 from the University of Rome "La Sapienza", and his dissertation was awarded the 2002 EATCS Italian Chapter Prize for the best two Ph.D. Theses in Theoretical Computer Science. He has been visiting scientist at the AT&T Research Laboratories (Florham Park, NJ, USA), joining the Networks Group, and at the Theory Group of the IT University of Copenhagen. He has been consultant at Microsoft Research - Silicon Valley. He is currently Assistant Professor in Computer Science at the University of Rome "La Sapienza". His research interests include graph algorithms, data structures, algorithm engineering, and software systems. His scientific results appeared in prestigious venues such as Journal of the ACM, IEEE Symposium on Foundations of Computer Science, and ACM Symposium on Theory of Computing. He has organized several scientific events, including the 45th IEEE Symposium on Foundations of Computer Science. He is continuously invited to serve as program committee member or program committee chair of international conferences. In particular, he has recently co-chaired the 7th ACM-SIAM Workshop on Algorithm Engineering and Experiments (ALENEX 2005), he is serving on the program committee of the 18th Annual ACM-SIAM Symposium on Discrete Algorithms (SODA 2007), and he will be the program committee chair of the 6th International Workshop on Experimental Algorithms (WEA 2007). |
