I am a Professor of Mechanical Automation and Mechatronics at the University of Twente, Enschede, the Netherlands and a part-time faculty at the Department of Computer and System Sciences, Sapienza University of Rome, Italy.

I received a Laurea degree cum laude in Electrical Engineering in 1996 and a PhD degree in System Engineering in 2000 both from Sapienza University of Rome. I was a Research Associate at the Department of Systems Science and Mathematics, Washington University, St. Louis, MO in 2000-2001, and at the Department of Electrical Engineering, Yale University, New Haven, CT, in 2001-2002. My research interest is primarily focused on nonlinear control systems.

I am an Editor of International Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control, an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Control Systems Technology and a member of the IEEE Control Systems Society Conference Editorial Board.

The paper C. De Persis, C.S. Kallesoe, Pressure regulation in nonlinear hydraulic networks by positive and quantized controls, has been accepted in IEEE Transactions on Control Systems Technology, 2010. We have also applied for a European patent (application nr. 10000447.2-2315, Energy optimization in large-scale hydraulic networks).
The paper C. De Persis, R. Sailer, F. Wirth. On a small-gain approach to distributed event-triggered control has been submitted to IFAC World Congress.
The paper F. Ceragioli, C. De Persis, P. Frasca. Quantized average consensus: Discontinuities and hysteresis has been revised. The new version is available in the ArXiv.
The project QUantized Information and Control for formation Keeping (QUICK), in collaboration with Prof. J.M.A. Scherpen and Dr. Ming Cao, University of Groningen, has been granted funding by the NWO Vrije Competitie Exacte Wetenschappen, the Netherlands.
The main focus of the proposed research is on the development of formation control strategies of agents interconnected over a network and which can cope with the presence of communication constraints. The project starts in January 2011.

Dr. D. Lucarelli and I have been awarded a $100k JHU/APL Globalization grant for the project Stability analysis and implementation of networked systems governed by Kuramoto oscillators.
