PADS 2008 Logistic Information

PADS 2008 will be held inside the main building of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Rome "La Sapienza" (you can click here to reach the faculty Web site).

The exact address for the principal entrance of the building is:

This building is the ancient monastery of “San Pietro in Vincoli” (St. Peter in Chains). Within this building there is a cloister area, at the center of which there is a decorated well. From this area, a main Hall, called the “Doctorates’ Hall”, can be directly accessed, which is the selected meeting room for PADS 2008.

PADS 2008 hosting site is very close to the Roman Forum (3 minutes walking distance), and also very close (20 minutes walking distance) from the central railway station in Rome, called "Termini Station".

All these sites are located at the center of the town.

Access to the City

By Air

Leonardo da Vinci Intercontinental Airport, located in Roma-Fiumicino, is Europe's fourth largest in terms of number of passengers and provides travelers with themost modern services and facilities. The center of Roma can be easily reached from the airport by local trains or taxi:

  • Local Trains: There are direct railway lines from the Leonardo da Vinci Intercontinental Airport to the Termini Station. These trains are scheduled each 30 minutes. The trip is about 40 minutes and the price is about 15 Euros.
  • Taxi: Taxi cars are available just ouside the Leonardo da Vinci Intercontinental Airport. The trip to the conference location (and in general to the center of Roma) is about 45 minutes and the price is about 50 Euro.

By Train

Rome is at the heart of the Italian railway network. Excellent Intercity service from Termini Railway Station links Rome to every major city in Europe.

PADS-reserved rooms are sold-out. Please make your hotel reservation outside the PADS block.

Four hotels, located in the area of the Faculty of Engineering building, have been selected for hosting PADS 2008 participants. They offer special fares which are listed in the registration form. Much has been written about Rome, its monuments and museums, its fountains and villas, its history and people. Many volumes would be needed to tell even a small part of its history, art and architecture, or to hint at what can be seen here, including Michelangelo's Last Judgment in the Sistine Chapel, the Vatican Museums, St. Peters's, the Roman Forum, the Colosseum, the Pincio, the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon.
