Currently, Giulia Fiscon is Assistant Professor (RTD-A) in Bioengineering (ING-INF/06) at the Department of Computer, Control and Management Engineering (DIAG) of Sapienza University of Rome. She holds a degree summa cum laude in Biomedical Engineering at Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome in 2012 and a PhD in Engineering in Computer Science with classification: excellent at DIAG of Sapienza University of Rome in 2016. From the end of 2015 to Sept 2020, she was a post-doctoral researcher in the bioinformatics and system biology group of the Institute for Systems Analysis and Computer Science “A. Ruberti” of National Research Council in Rome. From Sept 2020 to Sept 2021, she was a research collaborator at Foundation for Personalized Medicine (FMP) and from Sept 2021 to Nov 2021 she was a post-doctoral researcher at DIAG of Sapienza University of Rome. She is author of 43 international publications, cited about 850 times and her h-index is 18, according to Scopus database. She serves as reviewer for several peer-review journals and she is in the Editorial Board of Bioengineered journal. In 2014, she won the Sapienza University Starting Research Project about the development of algorithms to analyze the secondary structures of RNA molecules. In 2015, she won the F1000 Research Fellowship for the oral presentation at 11th ISCB Student Council Symposium 2015 of ISMB/ECCB 2015, Dublin (Irland). In 2016 she won the Best Poster Award 2016 of the IEEE Technical Committee on Computational LifeScience Society (TCCLS) and in 2018 the Best poster award 2018 of Bioinformatics Italian Society (BITS) . She was member of the Program Committee of IEEE BIBM’18 Workshop on Challenges and Opportunities in Large Scale Network Analysis in Systems Biology and of “the International Conference on Bioinformatics Models, Methods and Algorithm” - BIOINFORMATICS 2017-2020. From 2020, she is Member of GNB – National Bioengineering Group. From 2015-2018 she was member of the International Society for Computational Biology (ISCB) Regional Student Group - Italy and of the IEEE Technical Committee on Computational Life Sciences (TCCLS). She serves as reviewer for several peer-review journals, she is in the Editorial Board of Bioengineered international journal, Elsevier Biotechnology reports journal, and Computational And Mathematical Methods In Medicine international journal. Her research interests are in the area of biological complex system study. In particular, she works in the field of bioinformatics, computational biology, and network medicine.
